Welcome! It’s important to the team at Element Human that you know how much we respect your data privacy. The below information goes into more detail on how we use your data and the options available to you should you ever change your mind about us storing your data.
We are Element Human Limited (company number 08587003 and registered address 7 Savoy Court, London, England, WC2R 0EX) and we collect and process your personal data when you take part in a survey run on our platform.
You can get in touch with us, or our data protection officer, at any time to discuss how we use your personal data either by email at privacy@elementhuman.com or by writing to us at 7 Savoy Court, London, WC2R 0EX, UK.
The personal data (including sensitive personal data) we collect from you
For some surveys, and only with your consent, we may collect the following personal data from you:
-
video recordings taken from your webcam when you explicitly consent to take part in a survey
-
your responses to surveys and other questions we ask
-
technical data and background data we take from your device, for example the time you take the survey and the type of device you are using.
Some of the data we obtain from the video footage when you participate in a survey may fall within the definition of special categories of personal data or sensitive personal data, namely your biometric data (i.e. facial images, as revealed by the video footage), racial or ethnic origin (as revealed by the video footage) and health information (only if revealed by the video footage).
In addition, we may collect other information about you provided to us by the third party who provided you with access to the survey. The information we collect may include:
-
a unique respondent ID, to ensure that individuals do not undertake surveys multiple times and, where relevant, are rewarded for their participation; and
-
biographical details about you, for example your country, the age bracket into which you fall and your gender.
How we use your personal data
In the cases where you’ve consented to having your webcam turned on, we analyse the data we collect to extract information like facial expressions, where you are looking, your attention, your emotions and your opinions. We also analyse this data for quality control purposes, for example to make sure you haven’t blocked the screen. We use this data to help our clients better understand your opinions, for example whether you find an advert interesting or if you like a particular brand. We may use automated means, specifically our algorithms, to extract and analyse the information you provide.
Where you consent (as chosen later in the “Consent” section), we may also use your data for research purposes to help us manage, develop and improve our algorithms and services. For example, we may use the video of you to improve our algorithm’s ability to detect what emotions someone is experiencing.
How we share and transfer your personal data and where we store it
Where you were provided with access to our survey by a third party, we may share your responses and the information we gather with such third party. However, we will never share the video data with them.
We may also share your personal data with a small group of third parties and we may transfer, store and process your personal data inside and outside the European Economic Area (EEA) including in Canada only where appropriate safeguards are in place. More details can be found here.
Withdrawing consent
At the end of the survey, you will receive a Unique Human Code (UHC) which you should keep a record of. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us at privacy@elementhuman.com and providing us with the Unique Human Code.
